Duffy’s coming.

I’ve heard live versions of Mercy, Rain on Your Parade, Warwick Avenue, Distant Dreamer and others. But I now get to hear it LIVE. I’m not to familiar with the acoustics at the stadium, but it should be alright :)

Ticket Range:

TICKET PRICE (Exclude Booking Fee)
Standard - S$168, S$148, S$108, S$78

Get it from Sistic!

Update: It’s one day after Sunburst. Damn. If Coldplay do come to KL, it’s going to be a mad rush for me.

Elvis has left the building. Goodbye 2008, Hello 2009.

It’s been quite an eventful year for music, not unlike previous years - but still many worth mentioning.

The emergence of British RNB sensation, Leona Lewis. Topping the Bilboard charts? British? Wow.

Scott Weiland leaving Velvet Revolver to rejoin Stone Temple Pilots?

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, Guitar Hero: Rock Band, Guitar Hero: World Tour. Gaming and music? C’mon! It doesn’t get any better than that.

The return of New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) and Take That.

Gun’s and Roses first album in 17 years, Chinese Democracy, which later gets banned in China.

The return of Britney Spears with Womanizer, which jumped more than 90 spots to number 1.

The emergence of LadyGaGa.

The imortalization of Rihanna, who is now a walking revenue maker.

The death of Isaac Hayes.

The death of Pervis Jackson.

Let’s welcome 2009 with more happy news. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Okay, I know I’m early, but who cares?

It’s Christmas Time Again!

Posted in Music, Reco by weng Friday December 19, 2008

It’s that time of year again. I do kinda miss the nice cold winters (wet) of the UK. The best ones for me were being with my family in Redhill and waking up to Christmas lunch. Bacon, Ham, Turkey. Meat fest. Unwrapping gifts at tea time, watching some boring daytime talkshow. Sipping wine and falling asleep. Life really doesn’t get any better than that.

Now that I’m back in Malaysia. Things are different but definitely just as great. It just involves more Christmas parties and drinking :).

In the spirit of the festive period, here are my Top 5 Christmas tunes to wake up to:

5. Jim Reeves - Silver Bells
4. Peggy Lee - It’s Christmas Time Again
3. Bing Crosby - White Christmas
2. Brenda Lee - Rockin Around The Christmas Tree
1. Olivia Olsen - All I Want For Christmas Is You

As always, if you are looking for a laugh. Have a look at Rasheed Wallace, Amir Johnson, Will Blalock and Jason Maxiell doing Jingle Bells.

Detroit Pistons doing Jingle Bells

Sia - You Have Been Loved

Posted in Music, Reco by weng Wednesday December 17, 2008

Sia has kept me entertained with a haunting vocals for quite a number of years, since her Zero 7 days. But every once in awhile, she comes out with a song that reaches a whole other level. She did this with Breath Me. Now she has done it again with You Have Been Loved, which I caught in Private Practice back in Season 1, during the birthing tub single mother (i think) episode. But I caught it again in episode 8 of Season 2, when the comatose woman, Alena’s baby is presented to the family after Alena just died. The father brings the baby to be with the dead mother. Top level dramatics. Perfect song. Perfect Lyrics. Immediate entry into my Top list of all time.

Sia - You Have Been Loved

You shot me up, yeah
You filled my cup, oh
You sailed my boat
You were my last hope
You took my very last hope away

Oh you, you will be loved by someone good
And you, you will be loved by somebody good
You have been loved

You dropped the bomb
And now you’re gone
I held you dear
You swallowed my fears
And now I’ve drunk my last beer with you

Oh you, you have been loved by someone good
Yeah you, you will be loved
Oh will you ever know
That the bitterness and anger left me long ago
Only sadness remains
And it will pass

Yeah you you will be loved by somebody good
By somebody good

Art of Compilation: TAG meets Mainstream

Posted in Compilation, Music, Reco by weng Monday December 15, 2008

A friend of mine asked me to help compile an album of sorts. She gave me MCR, Secondhand Serenade, Coldplay. So I threw in some Twilight Action Girl stuff and some mainstream stuff. There album kinda transitions from some slow-mo emo, to some alt-rock, moving up a gear into Jack White and 30 Seconds From Mars, slowing down again with some alt-rock, moving down a further notch with some The Script and Stereophonics and ending with a funky beat with Nouvelle Vogue.

James Morrison feat. Nelly Furtado - Broken Strings
Without You – Hinder
Viva La Vida – Coldplay
Over You - Daughtry
I Don’t Love You – My Chemical Romance
Fall For You – Secondhand Serenade
Alicia Keys & Jack White - Quantum of Solace Theme Song
30 Seconds to Mars - From Yesterday
Fall Out Boy - Dance, Dance
The Undertones - Teenage Kicks
The Ting Tings - Great DJ
The Kooks - Always Where I Need to Be
Reindeer Section - You Are My Joy
Snow Patrol - Run
James Morrison - You Make It Real
The Script - The Man Who Can’t Be Moved
Stereophonics - Mr Writer
Nouvelle Vague - Dancing With Myself
